Improv Showdown

Improv Showdown is our newest show, featuring a competition between two teams of our improvisors, each of which is lead by a Team Captain from the audience!

In each round of the Showdown, teams will challenge each other to various Short or Long Form Improv games. Then a “winner” will be chosen by audience applause. At the end of the night, the team what won the most rounds gets to take home the soon to be coveted, but as yet un-named Improv Showdown Trophy!

The games played will change every week, but here’s a small sample of what you might see:

New Choice - Actors start their scene, but whenever the bell rings, they have to back up and redo the last thing they just said or did.

Family Dinner - We get someone from the audience and they cast the actors as family members that they would normally have dinner with. The audience member rings a bell when an actor does something in character, and honks a horn when they do something out of character. (Yeah, it’s complicated, but hilarious.)

ABC - Think you know your alphabet? Our actors usually don’t! In this game, each line of the scene has to start with the next letter of the alphabet. (It’s a lot harder than it sounds.)

Fill In The Blanks - Before the show, we have the audience write words and phrases on slips of paper. During this game, the actors open those slips and read what’s on them into the scene. Once it’s a part of the scene, the actors have to make it make sense.

Return Desk - One actor is returning an item to the local Big Box store.The catch is, they have no idea what it is they are returning!

So, grab your friends and join us for the weekly Improv Showdown!

Good Ol' Fashioned Improv Show

These shows are our signature Short Form shows.

If you aren't familiar with Short Form - pieces are short, hysterical, and on the fly.

Similiar to the hit show 'Who's Line' - we take audience suggestions, use audience participation, and random submissions to entertain the crowds!

For each Short Form “game,” we get a suggestion from the audience and use it to create a scene. The catch? Each game has one or more rules that make the scenes hard for the actors, and hilarious for the audience. For example:

New Choice - Actors start their scene, but whenever the bell rings, they have to back up and redo the last thing they just said or did.

Family Dinner - We get someone from the audience and they cast the actors as family members that they would normally have dinner with. The audience member rings a bell when an actor does something in character, and honks a horn when they do something out of character. (Yeah, it’s complicated, but hilarious.)

Return Desk - One actor is returning an item to the local Big Box store.The catch is, they have no idea what it is they are returning!

Trust us, if you’ve only experienced Improv on the small screen with “Whose Line,” you’ll love it live and in person!

Good Ol' Fashioned Improv Show

Trust us, if you’ve only experienced Improv on the small screen with “Whose Line,” you’ll love it live and in person!

Saturday Night Long Form

Couldn't make it to the Friday night "Long Game"? Well, Saturday night is great for fantastic long-form Improv Comedy for you too, including

* Spoon River
* Time Dash
* The Bat

What is Long Form Improv Comedy? That’s where we get a suggestion from the audience and use that to create multiple inter-related scenes lasting between 15 and 20 minutes. Characters are born and die, civilizations rise and fall, pizzas get ordered and delivered, all right before your eyes!

There are multiple “forms” of Long Form Improv, any one of which you might see at this show, including:

The Harold - The audience suggestion is used as the basis of a monologue, which becomes the foundation of the scenes that follow.

Time Dash - A single establishing scene is created, and then the actors jump around in time and space to see what happens at various points in the lives of the characters.

Spoon River - A sleepy little town, possibly close by, is the setting for a series of monologues and scenes based on the audience suggestion.

The Bat - Remember your Grandparents telling you how cool it was to listen to a play on the radio? Well, you can have that same experience with “The Bat!” It’s a series of scenes that we create in complete darkness!

All in all, it’s a show unlike any other in Chattanooga! So, join us, and experience it for yourself!
